About the island

Paxos is the smallest of the main Ionian islands — roughly 9 miles long, covered almost entirely in silver-green olive trees planted by the Venetians centuries ago. There's no airport on the island itself, and that's part of the point: Paxos has stayed unhurried, with three small harbour towns, a coastline of hidden coves and sea caves, and a car-free calm that's hard to find elsewhere in Greece.
Just south, the tiny island of Antipaxos — reachable by a short boat ride — is home to two of the most talked-about beaches in the Ionian, Voutoumi and Vrika, with sand as pale as the water is blue.
